I am speaking from the position of having never been a Mitt Romney supporter...reluctantly. I must preface this by commenting on the current election "mud wrestling" or "Cage Fighting" campaigns being waged and soon to be waged. They are horrible, bloody, replete with low blows, back stabbing and hair pulling, and that's just the opening rounds.
I used to live in Newt's voting district in Georgia. To be fair, Newt's congress accomplished several things that benefited the Republican Party. Hindsight tells me that those successes happened thanks more to a centrist president who was always getting his own member stuck in his zipper, and who wanted to keep his own popularity high.
During those uplifting years, our economy was stable, people were relatively happy, and all the lunatics in Washington were not trying to make outrageous statements on TV every day, like we now have from the likes of Peelisi and punch-drunk Reid.
That said, Newt irritated me back then because he appeared to represent that spoiled, loud-mouthed, lame-brained (but smart) rich kid who roamed campus (or high school) halls giving 'wedgies' to the unsuspecting. In a word, Newt was irritating, childish, grating, but smart, very smart.
Newt is also a very angry man. As far as his "gone to God" verbiage goes, need we go back any further than the Crusades or the Inquisition to recall how 'god-filled' men reeked vengeance on humanity. We see that same thing today in the bodies of Muslim extremists, who care nothing about whom they kill, as long as they kill SOMEBODY. I may want a champion as my president, to protect me and my family at home; but I don't want a pillager of American citizens (like our current pillager-in-chief). As his (wink, wink it wasn't my idea) recent political movie about Mitt Romney goes, Newt appears true to form with regard to having a 'kill anybody in the way' philosophy. In the "God fearing", and "God believing" categories, I must give a big edge to Mitt Romney...and Rick Santorum...and Michelle Bachmann. Those people practice what they believe. Newt does too, until he senses some real or implied affront to his 'genius' (sound familiar to any current politicians or presidents?). If he does, Newt immediately draws his sword and begins hacking and slashing.
I remain a Santorum supporter, but in terms of electability, I have begun leaning toward Mitt Romney. I continue to wonder whether I'm seeing the real Mitt, but I have months remaining until the Republican convention to see if Mitt emerges as the champion of the Republican party....the entire Republican party. The confusion about Mitt is promulgated by a left wing, progressive press that is working it's collective ass off to distribute disinformation about all Republican candidates. Their "boy" Barrack, has proven to be just that, a boy, a mean, lying, sneaking, vicious little boy who attempts and fails repeatedly at the task of doing a real man's job. Of the remaining Republican candidates, the real men are Romney and Santorum (I had included Bachmann and Palin, but one dropped out, bloodied, and one chose to keep her family out of the liberal wood chipper. But they were both, in political terms "Real Men").
If he doesn't self-destruct some way, Romney should win the Republican nomination. I will gladly vote for him, if only to bring some semblance of sanity back to Washington politics. I will then donate any money I have left to Conservative campaigns designed to remove Peelosi, Reid, Shummer, Durbin, Waxface, BoxerShorts, etc, etc. from office. Scum like those wack-o's have no place in our Nation's Capital.
So, Mitt, this is your nomination to lose. The slimy, RINO, segment of the Republican party wants you badly, which scares the hell out of me. That said, I look at your family values, your moderate conservative views, and pray that you have real Conservative blood running through your veins. The kind that runs "Red, White, and true Blue" when the going gets tough. If not, your election will hurt the party. It's time to do some real soul searching and to stop listening to all the snot-nosed hangers-on that flit around you, dissecting every word you speak. Mitt. Start speaking for yourself, and for all those Americans you want to speak for when in Washington. That's the only way we the voters will be able to understand just who you are. You appear to really want to be president. I assume that you have true, conservative, America saving, reasons for doing so. Show those to me.
God Bless America! God Save America!

The trouble with Mitt is that he doesn't seem to have a soul. When asked a question, it's like someone put a quarter in a juke box machine and he plays the tune you want to hear. The words come out in a torrent as if he knows the answer you're seeking. The man seems hollow at his core and doesn't have any solid beliefs other than he should be president.
